Welcome to a very special Friday. I’m posting this from the road because I’m visiting my hometown Berlin and I’m celebrating this Friday with a set by Berlin local Boys Noize. I’m probably going to have to fix some of the formatting on this post. This is my first time posting something from mobile 😅😎
I’m so glad Lunar sent me this live mix today. I usually post videos of live mixes but this Techno mix is so much gold I just really had to post it because it literally is my party mix for this friday and the weekend.
John “Lunar Vision” and I met back during the time when I started playing in the Sacramento area from around 2009-2011. Always a stand up guy and a pleasure to be at shows with. I have mad respect for him and the people in the Sacramento scene from back then.
I’m really curious about something I’m about to test out. It’s this new streaming portal for musicians called choon. Designed to have its own payment ecosystem the entire thing is powered by the Etherium blockchain. Check out their website if you haven’t googles it already:
Some familiar faces are involved: Gareth Emery, Ashley Wallbridge and Bjorn Niklas, who I still remember from the Torque days at Ruby Skye in San Francisco.
This is one of the most interesting things in digital music distribution and streaming I’ve heard of in a long time and I can’t wait to see its mechanics work in a live environment.
So when I received a beta invite I just had to upload a couple of tracks to try it out. They had to be brand new, since nothing published or under contract is eligible. So I hurried and polished up my two latest projects.
The first one called “Stranger” is sort of a downtempo breaks track that I made recently. I like to make all kinds of music and enjoy each break away from house music 🙂
The second track called “Neon Dark” sounds more like something people may be used to hearing from me. It’s been in the works for a while and after adding a punch of different things I decided to strip it back down to the current version. It’s my personal underground party soundtrack 🙂
For now I have to say that choon came along at a very convenient time, because I was looking for a solid outlet and got a bit tired of the entire label scene. I have high hopes for this platform and I’m keeping a close eye on its development. It could possibly become the kind of outlet for my music I’ve been looking for lately!
Let’s celebrate with a personal idol, Stephan Bodzin! This dude makes the kind of dirty techno electro sounds I strive for when I happen to feel dirty, techno and electro. He has the most iconic “bass face” in the scene and is a constant reminder of how dope it is to be able to make music yourself… and in this case play it completely live.
He even plays my absolute Bodzin-favorite “Tron” at around 51:38… so much filth in those basslines 🙂
Check out the tracklist below, cheers!

If you want to recommend a kick ass set for me to feature just get in touch. I’m always looking for new sets!
Oliver Huntemann has been an inspiration since back in the day where we hadn’t even focused on techno, yet. After the electro/mash up parties we’d have the after-after parties in places like hotel rooms or where ever there was an option to connect equipment and continue playing.
During these parties all the minimal, deep house and techno gems came out of the bag, which wasn’t very popular in California. Our usual crowd wasn’t ready for it back then. I’m personally glad to have made the move from the US to Germany. Now these private techno parties are the main event!
This is what this set, uploaded by radio intense, and most of the other sets I post remind me of. Techno fans don’t have to hide 🙂
If you have any cool live sets I should check out, please drop me a line.
It’s Wednesday again! And it didn’t take long for me to find this groovin’ tech set by Dubfire. The crowd is loving it.
It’s always nice to see the people appreciate the music they came to see. Nothing is worse than a cool set with a cold crowd.
So to get right to the point, presenting the Midweek Thump: Dubfire at the Solar Dance Arena in Bulgaria.
If you would like to get one of your live sets featured just give me a ring… a social media ring of course 🙂
