What’s up Friday Fam!

This is such a dope Friday mix. DJ Denise brings it with her brand new, hot out the oven electro, tech house, techno mix. It reminds me of so many Fridays and Saturdays in my life. So many nights in Berlin. So many after parties in San Francisco and LA.. this mix is gonna be an instant classic in my driving rotation! Denise is being featured for the second time on Finally Friday and you won’t regret checking out everything she’s got. She hails from the Bay and therefore represents many things I stood and still stand for. The scene slightly out of reach for me nowadays but mixes and connections like this make me feel like I’m home!

…and I’m gonna have to snag some of these tracks too… this shit is straight fire, guuuuurl! πŸ˜‰

Check out this tracklist and the mix right along with it!

Denise, maybe one day we’ll be able to play a show together again. This sound would kill over here in Germany!

Aaaand what an awesome Friday this is. Actually my “Friday” for this week was yesterday. Last day of work before my Winter holiday time until January. My parents are on the way for their Christmas visit as well so I’m coasting smoothly into the weekend.

I’m very happy to be celebrating this Friday with a new mix by one of my best friends throughout my time in the US: Mikey V!
Don’t worry, this won’t be christmas themed. This mix starts off with a housy feel that got me head nodding really liking the housy vibe and thinking “This is cool, though he usually plays elec..” Slam! and in comes the type of sound he played when we used to share decks at shows in Sacramento. For good measure he even added a couple remixes I made… brownie points! πŸ˜€

In some ways our friendship was the kind I had only seen on TV before, unthinkable in a German setting. His family’s front door was always open to me so I was able to barge in there like a sitcom side character without prior notice. It was like that for years and it was fun. I felt welcome at all times. One of the many things I miss about the past. I’m glad that with today’s connectivity options it is relatively easy to at least stay in touch and, with a bit more effort, nurture and continue to grow a friendship.

I’m happy Mike recorded this new mix and that I was able to annoy my co-workers by blasting it in the car as I parked it on the company parking lot for the last time in 2018 at 6:55 am.

Mike, keep that shit coming! You’re my boy, blue!

cheers, RDMN

So again it’s Friday and we made it another week. High five yourself for that one.

Since we’re all high fiving ourselves already I decided to celebrate this Friday with a little bit of mixing fun of my own. Still working on the setup and what angle to use bla bla bla, but the sound is kickin and that’s what counts.

Thanks for joining me in my personal space.

cheers
Thomas

I’m really curious about something I’m about to test out. It’s this new streaming portal for musicians called choon. Designed to have its own payment ecosystem the entire thing is powered by the Etherium blockchain. Check out their website if you haven’t googles it already:

https://www.choon.co/

Some familiar faces are involved: Gareth Emery, Ashley Wallbridge and Bjorn Niklas, who I still remember from the Torque days at Ruby Skye in San Francisco.

This is one of the most interesting things in digital music distribution and streaming I’ve heard of in a long time and I can’t wait to see its mechanics work in a live environment.

So when I received a beta invite I just had to upload a couple of tracks to try it out. They had to be brand new, since nothing published or under contract is eligible. So I hurried and polished up my two latest projects.
The first one called “Stranger” is sort of a downtempo breaks track that I made recently. I like to make all kinds of music and enjoy each break away from house music πŸ™‚

The second track called “Neon Dark” sounds more like something people may be used to hearing from me. It’s been in the works for a while and after adding a punch of different things I decided to strip it back down to the current version. It’s my personal underground party soundtrack πŸ™‚

For now I have to say that choon came along at a very convenient time, because I was looking for a solid outlet and got a bit tired of the entire label scene. I have high hopes for this platform and I’m keeping a close eye on its development. It could possibly become the kind of outlet for my music I’ve been looking for lately!

I’m stayin tuned πŸ™‚

cheers

Happy Friday people!

Let’s celebrate with a personal idol, Stephan Bodzin! This dude makes the kind of dirty techno electro sounds I strive for when I happen to feel dirty, techno and electro. He has the most iconic “bass face” in the scene and is a constant reminder of how dope it is to be able to make music yourself… and in this case play it completely live.

He even plays my absolute Bodzin-favorite “Tron” at around 51:38… so much filth in those basslines πŸ™‚

Check out the tracklist below, cheers!

0:00 – Stephan Bodzin – Zulu
