It’s late Friday night over here in Germany.. by the time I’m finished it’ll officially be Saturday. But I’m excited I waited because Shayan Darabi, Jason Victorine and Gentry Jones, aka. Phonic Youth just posted probably their first ever live 1-hour mix recording of a show they played recently at Ten15 Folsom in San Francisco for the Yotto Hyperfall Tour 2019.

The reason this is so exciting is because I’ve known Shayan for a very long time. In their early days we even came together for a collaboration and wrote a progressive house banger track called 5am.. over ten years ago. This track includes live guitar by Jason and vocals by Shayan. Still one of my personal favorites in my collection. Phonic Youth has really come a long way and they were already friggin good back then!
Here is a little taste of 5am though I have to say they’re sound has really matured a lot since:

I know that it must have been really exciting receiving the news to be playing at Ten15. I played there a few times myself in the upstairs house room. Those were some of the best shows of my career back then. So I want to send out my sincerest congratulations on getting yet another step further and will dedicate this week’s Finally Friday to never stop taking these steps!

And now please chill or groove or full on dance to this Phonic Youth deep house set, recorded live at Ten15 Folsom in San Francisco, CA.

cheers, RDMN

This Friday, I don’t really feel like a bouncy party or that eye-twitching glitch. I need to meditate ya’ll. I need to reset myself and put this week behind me. David August to the rescue! A smooth deep house mix with surprising twists and turns, even an “I know that sound” moment.

You’ll have to let the harmonies of the first 5 minutes take you into the right state of mind. And don’t worry, the beat comes in right about that time too and it’s smooth sailing from there.

I’m gonna take a dive into this mix now… I suggest you follow.

Tracklist:
0:00 Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Last Day – (David August Revision)
17:00 Syl Johnson – Is It Because I’m Black – (David August Reconstruction)
28:00 Rebekah Del Rio — Llorando – (David August Edit)
39:40 ingrid – (David August)
45:10 Tomas Barfod — Pulsing (feat. Nina K) – (David August Remix)
51:00 Ten Walls — Gotham – (David August Edit) (???)
56:00 High Heels Breaker — Come Easy feat. Sarah Palin (David August Remix)
62:00 Grizzly Bear — Yet Again – (David August Remix)

It’s easy to find some superstar on YouTube and use their videos in these posts. Their videos are perfectly produced and the track lists are usually on point. It is much harder on the other hand to find videos of “locals”. If I could, I would start off every Friday with some local love. So please feel free to send me your mixes. YouTube, Facebook, Soundcloud, Vimeo.. I’ll check it all out.

This week take a listen to Lunar Vision. Accurate mixing, awesome flow and always an interesting track list. Show him some deserved love! Cheers RDMN

There it is again.. Friday! We keep making it 🙂
This time I have another soundcloud clip for you guys. This is a very special friend of mine from my old music days in the wild wild west. Eve Falcon, awesome DJ, hot as hell and wife of Jason Blum, one half of the live electronic act Deepsky from back in the day. So many memories and connections have been created in my life after meeting Jason and Scott from Deepsky. Eve is one of them. She has such a mature sound and scratches my progressive/deep house itch in just the right way.

If you like this mix, feel free to show your support by purchasing the mix including the individual tracks: www.beatport.com/release/evocative-043/2243521

Alright, I’m gonna let this mix carry me into the weekend… I suggest you do the same.

Much love Eve. Miss all you guys!

What? There is a lady mixing you say? I just came for the art exhibition… but I guess since we’re already here let’s talk about Pretty Pink, the groove happy chick dancing her ass off in this video. I like finding out about new people, characters and artists. She certainly isn’t unknown, but she’s new to me and besides music she seems to have an impeccable taste in ancient art. Not only is her track selection good but her production is pretty top notch as well!

Check her out for yourself and of course as always let me know if you can recommend any mixes for the next Finally Friday!
