Finally finally finally Friday! People, I’ve been m.i.a. with a nasty pinched nerve that immobilized me for the last three weeks. So I’m even happier than usual to be able to work on music again this weekend! Production on the Coachella Mixes has begun and helping me get back on my feet with her live house set this Weekend is Magentik Zu from Australia.

It’s awesome how people meet nowadays. John Beaver and I produce music and the annual Coachella Mixes together. John played in Australia. John met Magentik Zu. He talked about our track. She sent me a friend request and here we are 🙂

Magentik Zu does much more than just DJ and produce, though. She runs the ZuReal DJ website offering DJ classes of all kinds including lessons for our little future star DJs from age 7 and up. The website also serves as a platform for bringing DJs and events together. All in all a super effort that helps bind the music community, which in itself deserves its own feature.

BUT I also have some music for you. Check out this up-beat house mix, that has helped me wake up from my pain-coma. I’m posting the YouTube live recording as well as the SoundCloud version, because the video seems to be blocked in several countries, including mine. For those not fortunate enough to see Magnetik Zu perform live in the video below, check out and enjoy the SoundCloud link!

I’m off now to move my body like I haven’t moved it in the last three weeks, mainly get up, cook, clean, jam a little… you know, human stuff 😉

cheers, RDMN

It’s finally Friday again… and I’m battling a cold lol. So I really enjoyed this mix by my old musical colleague Controlwerk. I had the honor of releasing a few of his tracks on my labels a couple of years ago. It’s always a pleasure working with him. His productions are of exquisite quality which makes this mix even more special because the entire track selection consists of Controlwerk originals. It’s deep, it’s tech, it’s progressive… it’s the right vibe for me to chug through this cold. 🙂

I’m looking forward to possible future collaborations. Rock on, Jakub!

With Coachella right around the corner and the 2019 Coachella Mixes in the works with John Beaver, everything I see and hear reminds me of those festival weekends. My compadre Dariio posted this link to Justice Live at Glastonbury on his facebook page and although their sound has matured since I saw them for the first time at Coachella over 10 years ago, it sure fuckin brings me back!

Justice has inspired me so much over the years. They introduced a sound I had never heard before and it pushed me to find new sounds, mixes, mashups, sets, rules and just keep going with my music. No one has brought grimey electro glitch and distorted sounds together and end up with mainstream results like they have.

So here is to a unique, off the wall, glitchy, melodic weekend, everyone!

cheers, RDMN

This Friday, I don’t really feel like a bouncy party or that eye-twitching glitch. I need to meditate ya’ll. I need to reset myself and put this week behind me. David August to the rescue! A smooth deep house mix with surprising twists and turns, even an “I know that sound” moment.

You’ll have to let the harmonies of the first 5 minutes take you into the right state of mind. And don’t worry, the beat comes in right about that time too and it’s smooth sailing from there.

I’m gonna take a dive into this mix now… I suggest you follow.

Tracklist:
0:00 Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Last Day – (David August Revision)
17:00 Syl Johnson – Is It Because I’m Black – (David August Reconstruction)

45:10 Tomas Barfod — Pulsing (feat. Nina K) – (David August Remix)
51:00 Ten Walls — Gotham – (David August Edit) (???)
56:00 High Heels Breaker — Come Easy feat. Sarah Palin (David August Remix)
62:00 Grizzly Bear — Yet Again – (David August Remix)

It’s easy to find some superstar on YouTube and use their videos in these posts. Their videos are perfectly produced and the track lists are usually on point. It is much harder on the other hand to find videos of “locals”. If I could, I would start off every Friday with some local love. So please feel free to send me your mixes. YouTube, Facebook, Soundcloud, Vimeo.. I’ll check it all out.

This week take a listen to Lunar Vision. Accurate mixing, awesome flow and always an interesting track list. Show him some deserved love! Cheers RDMN

It’s Friday and you guys know nothing makes me happier than that! This time I have to give this girl a shout out. I’ve been following her on twitter when she was getting about 20-40 likes on her tweets and now she’s getting like 500 likes per post! It’s awesome to see her get noticed and play all sorts of big shows like Tomorrowland this year. So here is to another rising star in the Techno scene. Hut ab meine Gute!

cheers RDMN

It’s finally Friday, people and I’m glad to be back. I’ve had a series of mini vacations around Europe with London, Amsterdam and LOTS of Berlin. I want to celebrate having a Friday to myself again after weeks of being about and we’re celebrating it with one of my favorites: Stephan Bodzin.

Here he is playing his unique live set 10000 feet high in the mountains at Schilthorn Piz Gloria for Cercle.

Cheers, RDMN

This is truly something else. It’s friggin intense.. kind of a Aphex Twin meets Vitalic, but in a completely different sense than I initially would have liked to experience that sort of pairing.

The first set of hi hats start 16 minutes into the mix.
3 Minutes later something resembling a kick! Yes!… hmm wait. Just another tease. And the seemingly random, but yet repetitious, rhythmic mix continues.

I’d freak out if I got lost and found myself in that room on accident. It’s interesting to see the people so thirsty for a beat.. and it’s not coming. Patience is being tested..

Though I must say I find the sounds eerie and hunting.. and pretty, unlike the aphex twin show I saw once which seemed to be based more on aggressive experimental sounds. Still I don’t know how long I’d be able to handle it if I was actually there on a night out partying… at the very least I’d leave with some heart burn. I don’t think we’ll have to bother with a tracklist this time 😀

Cheers and Sweet dreams after this one lol, RDMN.

It feels like my train is finally pulling into the station…after going non-stop for two weeks. This is a potentially huge Friday for me personally and Chris Lake is bringing the energy I need to start the next 7 days.

I love tech and deep house but during most of my DJ sets back in the day I played straight up, bangin’ and electro house and I miss this drive sometimes here in Germany. This mix is just full of dope ass tracks with off beat rhythms and bass hits… I need this right now.

So let’s recharge with Chris Lake after this long ass week.

Cheers, RDMN

It’s been a few weeks since we finished the mixes for this year. Coachella itself seemed to have been a success and the mixes we made were well received. After 14 years I’m glad to see that each year these mixes increase in quality. What started out as me recording John’s records back in 2004 has now become a full production mashup mix.. and it’s dope as hell!

Check out the following links:
The Mixes
The Story
The Tracklist

In those final weeks of rushing to meet our deadline (usually a CD-release party John is playing) I used every single free minute to polish the mashups, mixes, transitions and remixes of the project. In the last two years it even exhausted me to a point of getting sick for a week once my stress chemistry in my body shuts down. It’s no big deal.. it kinda proves to me how much energy I put into the whole thing and in the overall picture it’s satisfying to be part of this and add so much to the creation of these mixes.

John and I have become a really good team considering we’ve been working at a distance of about 10,000 miles for the last six years (The reason for this is an entire story in itself, which I’m not quite ready to share so publicly, yet). We still make it work and the results speak for themselves.

Check the intro of the first of two mixes this year:

Next year will be our 15th anniversary and I’m sure we’ll be doing the regular mixes plus a special anniversary mix… I just hope we start way earlier next time.. I’m trying to get through one of these without a complete crash afterwards 😀

Now go check out our mixes, drenched in blood, sweat and tears!
