This is such a dope Friday mix. DJ Denise brings it with her brand new, hot out the oven electro, tech house, techno mix. It reminds me of so many Fridays and Saturdays in my life. So many nights in Berlin. So many after parties in San Francisco and LA.. this mix is gonna be an instant classic in my driving rotation! Denise is being featured for the second time on Finally Friday and you won’t regret checking out everything she’s got. She hails from the Bay and therefore represents many things I stood and still stand for. The scene slightly out of reach for me nowadays but mixes and connections like this make me feel like I’m home!
…and I’m gonna have to snag some of these tracks too… this shit is straight fire, guuuuurl! 😉
Check out this tracklist and the mix right along with it!

It’s finally Friday again… and I’m battling a cold lol. So I really enjoyed this mix by my old musical colleague Controlwerk. I had the honor of releasing a few of his tracks on my labels a couple of years ago. It’s always a pleasure working with him. His productions are of exquisite quality which makes this mix even more special because the entire track selection consists of Controlwerk originals. It’s deep, it’s tech, it’s progressive… it’s the right vibe for me to chug through this cold. 🙂
I’m looking forward to possible future collaborations. Rock on, Jakub!

Here is to knocking this cold out by sunday! cheers, RDMN
With Coachella right around the corner and the 2019 Coachella Mixes in the works with John Beaver, everything I see and hear reminds me of those festival weekends. My compadre Dariio posted this link to Justice Live at Glastonbury on his facebook page and although their sound has matured since I saw them for the first time at Coachella over 10 years ago, it sure fuckin brings me back!
Justice has inspired me so much over the years. They introduced a sound I had never heard before and it pushed me to find new sounds, mixes, mashups, sets, rules and just keep going with my music. No one has brought grimey electro glitch and distorted sounds together and end up with mainstream results like they have.
So here is to a unique, off the wall, glitchy, melodic weekend, everyone!
Happy Friday and a Happy New Year for that matter… welcome to the first Finally Friday of 2019! Let’s jump right in. I’m starting off with my long time homeboy Formless from the California quasi-north and his new drum and bass mix called Turn n’ Burn.
I’ve been into drum and bass again lately and started a lot of production projects in that direction. I was really looking forward to this mix when I heard Zach was working on it and it’s been my jam all day… maybe it’ll be the weekend anthem? 😉
First of all a very Happy New Year to all of you. I don’t start work until next week so there won’t be any cruising, blasting music through Bavarian villages on my way home today. Besides, it’s freezing outside and we’re covered in a blanket of snow.
So it really warms me up thinking about the desert nights in Southern California, specifically the Coachella Music Festival. As many of you probably already know, the line up dropped a couple of days ago, which means it’s go time for John Beaver and me. We really want to get the 2019 mixes out early this year to give all of you enough time to enjoy them and us enough time to promote them.
This is a very special Coachella Mix year for us. Not only is it our 15th annual mix but in 2018 we signed a contract with Golden Voice allowing us to use their font, style, CI, etc. and basically be affiliated with them officially. Which consequently allowed us to build a new website with all of our past mixes on them. You can now go to www.coachellamixes.com and download everything from 2007 – 2018. Since we are now contractually obligated to maintain a certain level of quality I have decided not to include the 2005 and 2006 mixes. Please contact me directly if you are interested in these mixes for nostalgic reasons 🙂
Aaaand what an awesome Friday this is. Actually my “Friday” for this week was yesterday. Last day of work before my Winter holiday time until January. My parents are on the way for their Christmas visit as well so I’m coasting smoothly into the weekend.
I’m very happy to be celebrating this Friday with a new mix by one of my best friends throughout my time in the US: Mikey V!
Don’t worry, this won’t be christmas themed. This mix starts off with a housy feel that got me head nodding really liking the housy vibe and thinking “This is cool, though he usually plays elec..” Slam! and in comes the type of sound he played when we used to share decks at shows in Sacramento. For good measure he even added a couple remixes I made… brownie points! 😀
In some ways our friendship was the kind I had only seen on TV before, unthinkable in a German setting. His family’s front door was always open to me so I was able to barge in there like a sitcom side character without prior notice. It was like that for years and it was fun. I felt welcome at all times. One of the many things I miss about the past. I’m glad that with today’s connectivity options it is relatively easy to at least stay in touch and, with a bit more effort, nurture and continue to grow a friendship.
I’m happy Mike recorded this new mix and that I was able to annoy my co-workers by blasting it in the car as I parked it on the company parking lot for the last time in 2018 at 6:55 am.
It’s Friday again!! One more week until my holiday time starts. These past few weeks I’ve been really into drum and bass again as can be seen on my Instagram Story GIF Dance Battles… and so how luck was I when I put my feelers out and Elbereth, an old DJing colleague dropped me a link to her drum and bass mix ‘Bass Requiem’ which at the time of writing has 2970 plays! Let’s reach that 3K!
Bruh, I was jammin home from work through those Bavarian villages at what felt like double speed, blasting this mix and turning heads so hard grandpas be losin their hat feathers n shit. A definite recommendation from me for this weekend. Hopefully it won’t end es fast as it started!
By the way show this girl some love if you have any connection to her at all. She’s recently been diagnosed with chronic TMJ issues and it’s tearing at her. I’m sure she’d appreciate any and all kinds of kindness right about now. Elbereth and I weren’t close friends back in the day, but we DJd some of the same shows, though and anyone from that part of my life, from that part of the scene is family to me, no questions asked… and she’s a fuckin awesome DJ who will bring it if bringing needs to be brought.
Now go fuck up your weekend with this mix 😀

Holla if it’s Friday where you live! My Xmas vacation time is coming up so fast now I can hardly concentrate at work at the moment. I’m feeling that straight up house music this weekend and I enlisted my good friend Carlos Alfonzo to bring the heat with his mix called Deep into the Zone.
Carlos and I played at a lot of the same shows back in the day in the Bay and Sacramento Area and if I can say anything about him at all it’s that he personifies a mantra our scene used to like to live by: Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. Always awesome and helpful during shows. Plus he’s never disappointed as a DJ either, one that started in the old school and adapted perfectly to the current digital age. On top of that he’s a multi-released producer on labels such as:
Tech Asylum Recordings
Chicago based Traxmen Records
Harlots & Hustlers
Fierce Animal Recordings
Mini Coffee Records
Tree House Tribe Records
Blue Orb Records
Although we haven’t mixed it up at the same shows since my exile 6 years ago, I’m pretty sure this is one of those situations where if you meet again a decade later you’re still cool and chill with each other like you just played a show last weekend.
Brother, if you need a little tour of Germany one day don’t forget to hit me up while you’re here 🙂
If I learned anything this weekend it’s that I can celebrate it finally being Friday even when it’s saturday already… kinda like a belated celebration. Last week I had to skip out on my weekly post due to a work convention. Yes, I know it’s unbelievable. I do have to work even though I’m running this lucrative blog. Sorry to have to shatter that image of me 😀 😀
So this Friday I just had to go back to Dariio and his latest appearance at the Pancakes and Booze festival. The house music and the mixing are so solid I just couldn’t leave work without blasting it on the way home. Turning Bavarian heads has become a Friday pastime and Dariio is definitely helping with my endeavour.

So happy for this Friday, musically and because I am getting over a little concussion and can finally function again. During my dizzy spells last weekend, Formless shared an album by G Jones praising this producer’s genius and I just had to check it out. Since Formless is my new-music-guru I jumped on it, jumped in it…dove in it, soundwaves crashing in over my head… surrounded by sonic stabs, hits, slaps… my pupils grew ten sizes that day.
This album inspired a very specific part of my own production habits. There are moments when I have over the top, crazy, jaggedy sounds lined up in my own projects but I always put on the breaks and go for a more subtle option. I feel like I need to let those hidden sounds flourish. There are moments where these noises are needed to flesh out the otherwise text-book arrangement or production and this album immediately inspired me to push the edge a little bit more again. Some other producers that had the same effect upon first discovery in the past were: Vitalic, Something a la Mode, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Justice, and probably a few more I can’t think of this second.
Either way G Jones does not disappoint with his 11 tracks of Glitchy, Bass, Dubstep, Trap, Electronica, Sampletastic sound.. and neither does Formless for sharing this with me. Thank you for stimulating some growth within me.
